

MacDonald, Gary James - 49, of Waverley, completed his earthly journey and joined the angels in Heaven early Friday afternoon, August 31st, 2012 from his bed in the Palliative Care Unit at the VG Site of the QEII in Halifax after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Halifax, the first born son of the late Gordon and Sharon (MacDonald) MacDonald. Gary was a family man whose great love was his wife, Anita, and whose greatest pride and joy were his three children. He was a dedicated worker and an avid car enthusiast. Having given up stock racing himself, he fully supported his younger son in his racing endeavors’ (presently bandoleros). He was deeply proud that his two older children had successfully completed their schooling and entered the work force in their chosen fields.Gary is survived by his wife, Anita (Smith), sons Jason and Craig and daughter Devan, all at home; sisters Denise (Mark Allen), Windsor, ON and Charlene (Terry Marriott), Whites Lake, a nephew (Jordan) and two nieces (Jennifer & Jayden). Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his three Uncle’s Clifford, Lloyd & Joseph MacDonald, Aunt Thelma and his beloved father-in-law, Bill Smith. Cremation will be under the care and direction of A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home, Dartmouth. In keeping with Gary’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service and private interment will be held at a later date.
