

ROBERTSON, George Wilson - The family of George Wilson Robertson, announce his passing on Monday, February 7, 2022, at the Darmouth General Hospital, age 87. He was the eldest son of George Wilson Robertson and Eilda (Hilchey) Robertson.
George spent his childhood growing up on Newton St., Halifax, NS, where he loved to play hockey, baseball and basketball. He also enjoyed many a summer day at his grandparents in Pugwash, NS.
He graduated from Queen Elizabeth High School, Halifax, NS and then Dalhousie University, Halifax, NS, where he received the Professional Chartered Accountant Designation of RIA, which had been recently upgraded to CPA. The majority of his career was spent working as a managing accountant for L.E. Shaw Ltd.,in Halifax and Lantz, NS, now known as Shaw Group Ltd.
George married Ann, “Annette” Theriault of Pictou, NS, on Oct 19, 1957. They were in their 65th year of marriage.
George will be missed by his wife, Ann, Dartmouth, his son, Wilson (Cathy), Mineville, NS, their children, Danielle, Kyle, and Emily; son Glenn (Kathy), Calgary AB, their daughters Kaleigh and Jenny; son Andrew (Cynthia), Pictou NS, their children, Stephanie, Brittany, Blake, Liam and Brenna; brother Peter (Sharon) Kentville, NS, sister Jan (John) Lake Echo, NS; sister-in-law Mary, Dartmouth, NS. As well as by great-grandchildren, Gracie, Ben, and Remi all of Calgary, AB.
He was predeceased by his parents as well as his eldest sister Betty and younger brother Robin.
He could be found many a day in the stands at numerous rinks in Eastern Canada watching his three sons play hockey. As well as many local ballfields cheering on his boys and later in retirement shifting to Papa Cheerleader of his grandchildren at many rinks, soccer fields, and golf courses.
George was very fortunate to retire early and was able to spend his summers with Ann at their family cottage on the Northumberland Shore in Caribou River, NS, where they fostered many close friends over the years. Dad and Mom walked on a daily basis for over 64 years at the cottage and in their neighborhood in Dartmouth. Something that they both attribute to many years of good health. George was an avid lifelong reader, especially historic novels of WWI and WWII. He could be seen in his favorite comfy chair engrossed in the pages of a good book.
The family would like to thank Dr. Bob Oliver for his care over the years. Also special gratitude for the caring nurses in the Emergency Dept and Fourth Floor Overflow Unit at the Dartmouth General in his final days.
Cremation has taken place. Due to the present Covid restrictions a funeral mass will take place in late June in Dartmouth NS, with burial in Pictou, NS. Details to follow at a later date.
