

Lloyd, Gilbert Malcolm-74, of Dartmouth passed away August 19, 2013 at the Dartmouth General Hospital after a long courageous battle with cancer. Born in Westville, NS he was a son of the late Harold and Annie Lloyd.
Gilbert enjoyed a 29 year career with the Halifax Regional Fire Department. He had a lifelong love for the game of golf and he continued to play up until two years ago when his health started to decline. He was a long-time member of Brightwood Golf Club, where he enjoyed many decades playing their course. Over the years he travelled to many different golf courses, in Canada and the US with the “Dirty Dozen.” Every Sunday he could be found at Brightwood playing cards with the boys. During his retirement he enjoyed travelling and spending time with his grandchildren, family and friends.
He is survived by his daughter Veronica Lloyd; brothers, Kalvin Lloyd and Allen Lloyd; sisters, Norma Lloyd and Myrna (Wayne) Cooley; grandchildren, Shane “Nevalle” Lloyd, Marlisa Lloyd and Marlin Lloyd; long-time companion, Patsy; niece, Sherry and nephew Shane. He was predeceased by his wife, Barbara (Walsh) Lloyd and brother, Harold Lloyd.
Visitation will be held on Monday August 26 from 2-4:30pm in A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home, 217 Portland Street Dartmouth, followed by a celebration of Gilbert’s life from 6-8pm at Brightwood Golf Club, 227 School Street, Dartmouth. There will be a time to share memories and stories of Gilbert at 6:30pm.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Autism Nova Scotia.
