GRANT, Helen Juanita - Of Dartmouth, age 98, passed away peacefully with loved ones by her side, on December 3, 2021, in Glasgow Hall, Dartmouth. Helen was born in Truro, the youngest daughter of Frank Willis and Gertrude (Davis) Brenton. She was raised in Truro along with her two older sisters, whom she loved dearly. Following high school, Helen earned her Secretarial Diploma. She was an enthusiast of playing the piano, skating, bicycling and tennis. The Truro Tennis Club was where she met her future husband, Mac, whom she married in June 1951. She moved to Dartmouth when her husband began his career with Imperial Oil. She worked as a secretary with the Bank of Nova Scotia in Halifax, until her daughter was born. Helen was a devoted wife and mother. She had great fun on summer vacations at the cottages in Murray Beach with her family, sisters and their families. In the 1950s, Helen became a member of the Grace United Church where her life was enriched by the fellowship of the Grace family. In her earlier years, she taught Sunday school and always loved singing hymns and carols. In the 1960s, Helen and her husband joined the Brightwood Golf and Country Club. She loved the sport, camaraderie and company of dear friends, golfing well into her 80s. Over the decades, Helen also participated in many social events with Imperial Oil friends. She enjoyed her home, tending her flower gardens, and greatly appreciated the kindness of her neighbours. Helen created lovely handknit mittens for family, friends and the ‘mitten tree’ at Grace. Most of all, she cherished the love and happy times shared with special friends and family. Helen lived a full and wonderful life. We will miss her beautiful eyes, her perseverance, independent spirit, and zest for life. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Robin (Peter) Wall, and many nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Malcolm ‘Mac’ Grant, in 1999. She was also predeceased by her parents and sisters, Dorothy ‘Dot’ (Donald) Allan and Catherine (Elwyn) Nelson. Her daughter would like to thank the dedicated staff at Glasgow Hall for their compassionate care. A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
