

Born in Fredericton, NB, David was the only child of the late James Arthur and Ethel (Love) Murdock. Survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Pauline (Vaughan); daughters, Susan Murdock, Ottawa, ON; Catherine Waiand (Marvin), Calgary, AB; cherished grandchildren, Andrew (Olga) and Christine Waiand, Calgary; cousins Norma Loggie (Toronto) and Marilyn Magwood (Lennoxville); brother-in-law, Dr. Avery Vaughan (Helena) (Windsor), sisters-in-law Lauren Vaughan (Little Narrows), Jeanne Vaughan (California), special friends, Jane Bailey and Basil Coady; and much loved nieces, nephews. David joined TCA/Air Canada in 1947. He retired after a 36 year career in sales and management. He was a member of Grace United Church, Dartmouth, a Charter Member and Past President of the Dartmouth Kinsmen Club, Past President of the Dartmouth Curling Club, a Life Member of the Austinville Owl’s Club, former member of the Dartmouth Kiwanis Club, Brightwood Golf and Country Club, and the Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron.
An enthusiastic curler, golfer, and sports fan; he especially enjoyed fishing trips to Northern Ontario and sailing in the Marblehead races. In later years, he sailed in the Mahone Bay area, first on Mischief and later on Freelance. He and Pauline had many happy years residing in Oakland before returning to Dartmouth in 2012. David had many friends and always enjoyed a good story and a laugh.
Funeral Sunday September 15 at 2:00 pm at Grace United Church, corner of King and Ochterloney Street, Dartmouth. Reception to follow at the Austenville Owl’s Club, 34 Oakdale Crescent, Dartmouth.
