My time came on December 8, 2020, and as I leave this life, I fondly recall my hard working, English immigrant parents who came to Alberta in the early 1900s. They raised a family of three under harsh and, at times, unfriendly conditions. I was born in Edmonton in 1924 and grew up during The Great Depression of 1929-39. In 1942, at 18, I joined the RCAF. After intensive training in Canada and the USA I was formally attached to the RAF in Washington, DC to become proficient in new radar techniques and equipment. I served the war years in the USA, Great Britain and Europe. Upon my discharge in 1946, I married my school days sweetheart and enrolled in the University of Alberta Engineering Department. I graduated as an Electrical Engineer and rejoined the RCAF in 1949. I had a long, successful career serving in many parts of the world. I lost my dear wife, Adelaide in 2018. I am survived by a daughter, Sharon (Rick) Brazeau of Ottawa; sons, Ken (Marilyn) of Dartmouth and Alan (Maureen) of Calgary; four grandchildren, Jason Whitehead of Los Angeles, Cory Ready of Ottawa, Michael (Aileen) Whitehead of Dartmouth and Julie (Josh) Langford of Waverley; four great-grandchildren, all in the Dartmouth area. You have made me so proud of your personal achievements and in the raising of your families. Lastly, thank you to our wonderful friends in many parts of the world and to those curling clubs, lawn bowling clubs, fishing and card playing cronies and church groups that helped to make leisure time so pleasant. Cremation and interment will occur later this week. A Memorial Service and Celebration of Life will take place when travel and access become more fluid, probably the coming summer.
CANADA, I have seen many parts of the world and you are the best.
