

Colter, James Maurice – It is with great sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Jim Colter, loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. Jim lost a courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, June 11, 2011 in the Victoria General Hospital at the age of 73, surrounded by his family. Jim was born in Halifax, a son of the late Maurice and Connie (Bowes) Colter. Jim was an employee of Maritime Tel & Tel for 37 years, a member of Telephone Pioneers, and former member of Brightwood Golf and Country Club. In his younger years, he paddled for Banook Canoe Club and also coached in the Dartmouth Minor Hockey Association. Jim was a true family man and was a very proud Grampy to all seven grandchildren. Jim, known to many as Hooter, was full of fun and loved to be the life of the party. His love of Sports and knowledge of sports trivia was amazing to everyone. Jim was a very loyal friend to all who knew him. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 and a half years Patricia (Greene) Colter, his sons David (Daniela) Littleton, Colorado; Gary (Patricia) Dartmouth; daughter Shelley (Rick) Courtney, Dartmouth; seven grandchildren Ryan, Sean, and Liam Colter of Littleton, Colorado; Travis and Amanda Colter, Lauren and Julia MacMichael all of Dartmouth; dear sister Judy (Peter) Thackray London, Ontario; several nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place with a Memorial Service to be held in Christ Church, Dartmouth at 11 am on Wednesday June 15, Rev. Steve Laskey officiating. Reception to follow in the Parish Hall.
