

Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Elizabeth “Betty” A. Tolsen Sollows.
He was a successful business owner of CSS Insurance for 45 years. Before working in the insurance industry he was employed by the Bank of Nova Scotia. One of his proudest accomplishments was developing the first insurance brokerage software in the Maritimes. Outside work he was a member of Scotia Roamers Motor Home Club, an avid golfer at Oakfield Golf and Country Club, wine maker and animal lover. One of his greatest moments was winning the Nova Scotia Father and Son golf tournament; in fact he was quick to take credit for both his son’s golfing abilities.
A dedicated family man he was predeceased by his first wife of 26 years, Donna Marie (Villeneuve), an infant daughter, and brother, David Jordan Sollows.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Mary Elizabeth (Silver, Martin) Sollows; sons, Donald (Judy) Sollows and Bruce (Laura) Sollows; step-daughters, Ellen (Miles) Crawley and Kelly Martin; grandchildren, Matthew and Meagan Sollows, Jordan and Claire Sollows; step-grandchildren, Chantelle (Fabian) Paris, Martin and Shane Crawley; three great grandchildren, Keandre, Kaysen and Keenan.
A memorial service will be held on Friday November 29 at 2:30pm in A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home, 217 Portland Street, Dartmouth. Reception to follow. Interment will take place at a later date in Mount Hermon Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Dartmouth General Hospital or a charity of choice.
