

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joseph (Joe) Shannon MacDonald age 69, of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. Joe passed away peacefully on June 15th, 2023 in the presence of his loving family. He was formerly a resident of Port au Port Newfoundland and resided in Dartmouth for the past 28 years.
Joseph is survived by his devoted wife of 27 years Doris MacDonald (Buffett), his stepdaughter Bethany Buffett and granddaughter Ainsley Buffett. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law June of Dartmouth and Debra Cullen of Cape Breton; Debra's sons, Andrew and James, from Kentville, sister-in-law Shelly MacDonald, nephews Adam, Cory, and Brandon MacDonald, and grand-nephew Lil' Joe MacDonald. Joseph is survived by 13 siblings who reside in Newfoundland and others residing in various locations of Canada. He also leaves behind to mourn the passing of special friends Darcy Warren, Heather Carr, and Barb Ames.
Joseph was an excellent roofer, a gifted painter, and an expert in fishing. He was a man of many talents and his skills were admired by all who knew him. His dedication to his craft was evident in everything he did. Joe was always eager to share his knowledge with others and was known for his willingness to help anyone in need.
Joseph was also a man of faith and his spirituality was an essential part of his life. He found comfort in his beliefs and faced life's challenges with grace and dignity. Joe's commitment to his faith was an inspiration to all who knew him and his example will continue to inspire others for years to come. Joe will be remembered for his kind heart and his love for his family.
Joe's passing is a great loss to his family, friends, and community. He will be deeply missed. A celebration of life will take place at SonLife Community Church, 152 Windmill Road in Dartmouth on Saturday, September 16th at 2:00 p.m. All are welcome.
