It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Laurie Anne Evers, in her 58th year, surrounded by her family at Dartmouth General Hospital, in the early hours of November 24, 2017. Laurie is survived by her spouse, Stephen Vaughan; mother, Helen Evers (the late Vern); sister, Yvonne “Bonnie” Baglole (Gerry); brother, Ivan Evers; step-daughter, Katie Harvey and her children, Cailum and Jersey. Laurie will be dearly missed by her nieces, Jenny (Sonya), Katie (Corey); nephew, Justin (Tessa); great-niece, Jettlyn; friends, Elaine, Dawn, and Jane; uncle, Carl Murphy, and many other cousins, aunts and uncles, and friends across Canada, as well as her beloved cat, Betsy. Laurie was born in Marville, France on 20 Oct 1960, and as a military brat, lived in many parts of Canada during her younger years. She loved to crochet, knit, darts and loved to play bingo with her gal pals. We remember her kindness and selfless nature toward others, the pride and care she took in her role as Superintendent of her building, as well as the humour and good nature that she brought to her work at the Royal Canadian Legion Br 160, where she spent many years as a member in service. The family would like to extend Thanks to the staff at Dartmouth General Hospital, the Halifax Cancer team, and Homecare services for all their wonderful care provided to Laurie throughout her journey. Cremation has taken place and friends may visit in A. L. Mattatall Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 28th between the hours of 2-4pm and 7-9pm. A memorial service will be held in the Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 29th at 11 a.m., followed by a Legion Service. A family graveside service will take place in Windsor, Hants Co. at a later date, with a graveside service in Commanda, ON, date to be announced. Family flowers only.
