It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Marian "Kathleen" (Kathy) MacDonald (Winfield) (Bedwell) of Dartmouth, on November 14, 2022, in Dartmouth General Hospital, with loving family by her side.
Kathy was born to Marguerite (Williams) and Donald Winfield (predeceased) on January 5th, 1942 in Jordan Falls, Shelburne County. She attended Shelburne Regional High School and then the Halifax Business College. She lived briefly in Toronto, Ont., then Sydney, eventually moving to Dartmouth, where she became very well known in the 80s-90s as the friendly bank teller with sparkling eyes and the warmest smile at the CIBC on Tacoma Drive. Prior to this, she worked at Scotiabank on Main Street, Scotiabank on Hollis Street, and the Royal Bank in Rockingham.
Well known in the community for her smiles and friendliness, at home she sang beautifully, wrote her own songs, and played piano and organ by ear. She loved going for long drives with no planned destination. In one word, she was exceptional.
She was predeceased by all her siblings, Ruby (Ed) Longard, Roy "Bub" (Ida), George "Jim", Mary Mouland, Viola (Arnold) DeLancey, Mildred Coughlan, Stephen, and Alice (Harold) Walker; and by her first husband, Gordon Bedwell.
Kathy leaves behind her loving husband, Douglas MacDonald (Port Morien); children, Carole, Heather, Linda, and Grant (Tina) Bedwell; grandchildren, Peter, Justin, Isaac, Charlotte, Telicia, Taylor and Gordon; great-grandchildren, Kyla, Junior, and Amya; stepchildren, Chess, Wanda, Berniece and their families; and many nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place, as well as a family service. Donations in Kathy's name may be made to the Salvation Army.
