Marie Gertrude Vaughan

VAUGHAN, Marie G. - of Dartmouth, NS. Mom’s physical body left us on April 29, 2018 but her spirit never will. She was surrounded in love by her daughters and son-in-law, Jim. Born on August 10, 1926 to John and Christina (Stickles) Merriman in Devon, NB, she spent her early life in NB prior to her marriage to the late Harold W. Vaughan (RCMP). Following her marriage, they were stationed in various communities in NS, including Dartmouth, Ingonish Beach, Bridgetown, Truro, Halifax and Sydney. She spent her working years in the banking industry, last working for Scotiabank, Woodlawn Westphal prior to her retirement. Marie is survived by her immediate family, Valerie Vaughan-Hines (Fred), Vicki Vaughan-Day (Jim), Virginia “Ginny” Vaughan-Farrell (Peter) and grandsons, Matt MacKenzie (Udy), Christopher MacKenzie (Danielle Dill) and Evan Farrell. She was predeceased by her husband Harold of 51 years, her mother, father, beloved sister, Helen Segee and son-in-law Jim MacKenzie. Marie was a woman of tremendous faith. She volunteered her time for many years visiting the sick as a pastoral care worker. She was a great friend to many. Visitation will be held in A. L. Mattatall Funeral Home, Portland St. on Thursday, May 3, 2018 from 6-9pm. There will be a celebration of her life at Woodlawn United Church on Friday, May 4, 2018 at 11am. Rev. Phillip Kennedy officiating. If wished, donations in Marie’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
