Marvin Joseph Jones

Marvin was born on August 22, 1937 to Constable Patrick Willis Jones (R.C.M.P.) and Mary Eva Jones (nee Mallet) in Chatham, New Brunswick.

As a teenager Marvin was an alter boy at St Ignatius Roman Catholic Church, paper boy (assisted by his sister Phyllis) and a member of the Royal Canadian Sea Cadets. As a young man Marvin met Carol Ann Sievert in Dartmouth. Marvin and Carol Ann married in 1959 and went on to have four sons, Daniel, Anthony, and twins Peter and Paul. His sons were the joy of his life.

Marvin over the years owned and operated a variety of businesses including the Hideaway Lounge, MJ Insulators, and MAR -J Electrical in Saint John, NB, and the Casablanca in Dartmouth NS. Once he hung up his entrepreneurial hat he joined the team at CampHill Hospital as Lead Electrician where he finished off his career in 2004. Post retirement he enjoyed working part time at Pelham Electric and spent his spare time in the country gardening, watching CNN, and playing golf.

Marvin was predeceased by his brothers Elmer and Percy Jones, first wife Carol Ann Jones and his son Daniel Jones (Denise). He is survived by sisters, Mona Woodworth (Lester),Phyllis Norman (Gerry), and Cheryl Bowman (Syd) nee Cheryl Burton (Jack), second wife Ingrid Pinnet, children Anthony Jones (Gail), Peter Jones (Mary), and Paul Jones (Sylvia), daughter-in-law Denise Jones, grandchildren Vanessa Jones (Aaron), Lynette Jones, Patrick Jones (Hayley), Eric Gould (Laura), Jonathan Jones (Arielle), and Adam Smith (Amanda), great-grandchildren Blake Greencorn, Sullivan Jones, Parker Jones and Grace Babineau.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Dartmouth General Hospital for keeping Marvin comfortable in his last days.

Graveside services will be held at Saint Anslems Church, 7037 #207 Highway, West Chezzetcook on November 11, at 2:00pm followed by a reception at Saint Genivieve Church, 723 E Chezzetcook Rd, East Chezzetcook. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Dartmouth SPCA.
