

Deveau, Melbourne Joseph, 77, of Dartmouth passed away November 19, 2010 at the QE II VG Site. Born in Meteghan River, Digby County, he was the son of the late Catherine and Ulysse Deveau. By trade he was a barber working 40 years, and he also worked at KFC for 48 years. He was especially proud of being the longest working employee in Canada. Mel was an accomplished wood carver, belonging to the Nova Scotia Wildlife Carvers and Artists Association. He was also a member of St. Clement’s Church. Over the past 14 years Mel spent many happy days with his beloved dog, Pearl. He was never married. Mel is survived by his brother, Emile (Barbara) of Meteghan River; sisters, Rosaline Theriault (Widowed), of St. Stephen, NB, and Regina (Bob) MacLeod, New Glasgow; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers Donald and Leonard. A very special thank you to the staff of 7A of the Halifax Infirmary and also 5A of the Victoria General. Visitation will be held on Tuesday November 23, 2010 from 7-9pm at A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home, 217 Portaland Street, Dartmouth. Funeral mass to be held on Thursday November 25, 2010 at 11am from Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, Meteghan, NS. Burial to follow in the Meteghan Cemetery. Family flowers only.
