My condolences to Normys family in this difficult time He was loved by many and will forever be remembered by hockey players and fans alike all over Atlantic Canada 
He was a true Super Fan of his generation

My sincere condolences to Norman’s family.
I have known Normie for 60, or so, years. From my earliest memories of playing minor hockey at the old Civic Arena, to Hartlen’s Rovers, to my Dad’s involvement with the Halifax Atlantics Jr. Hockey Club, to the Suburban Hockey League, to the too many baseball teams to mention, including. Pelham Electric, to my minor hockey coaching days, Norm was always there supporting us.
A couple memorable Stories:
I was coaching the Bedford Blues Pee-Wees in the mid to late 90’s. We were to attend the Quebec Int’l Pee-Wee Tournament, representing the Halifax Mooseheads. Of course, we ordered a Meagher replica Mooseheads jersey. My son, another player, and myself presented it to Norm on Christmas Eve ‘97. We had to wait for Norm to finish his shower. When he appeared, his sister said, “Norman, you put your pajama pants on backwards!” His reply to her was priceless. He simply responded,”So what.” 
I lost it!
Needless to say , he was thrilled with the jersey. While there, I asked Norm if he could show me, and the boys, his collection of things he had acquired from various sports teams / individuals. He graciously escorted us to the basement of  his home. We were gobsmacked!
In front of us was a shrine to 50 +/- years of amateur sports in Halifax , especially hockey, baseball, and softball. It was incredible. Impeccably arranged, with every type of clothing neatly hung from ceiling hung steel pipping installed for him and spotted by sport / team / celebrity/etc.  After taking some time to take it all in, I was a little confused by something. I said, “Norm, I understand how you have arranged everything, except for that section there (which was comprised of at least 100 artifacts), Again, his reply was on the mark. He simply replied, “Those are the ones that don’t fit me anymore.”
I’m going to miss you my friend. Please say Hi to my Mom and Dad in heaven.

I just heard of Normans passing and thought I would send you a note. I know you are aware, but his status at sports facilities in Halifax is legendary. I used to reminisce and tell stories of his stature and quotes (and anthem singing!) with my two daughters. 
I ran into Norm a few years ago (at DGH) with my daughter and was grateful to see him and wish him well.

To the Family of Norm, we are sending our deepest condolences for your loss.  We grew up next door to Norm on Summit Street.  Norm loved to have a chat in the yard or driveway anytime he saw us outside.  He was such a nice person who loved life and anything sports, and animals.  May he rest in piece and enjoy the next ballgame or hockey game in the sky!

I remember Norman at many stages of my childhood growing up, in my neighbourhood around the Halifax Forum. He was a central figure in the sports community. 
My dad also enjoyed a close relationship with him and his extended family.

Heaven just got a new occupant who has probably 50 team sports jackets in his suitcase, ready to show off. 

Condolences, and on a day like this it’s important for others to know that people  are remembered in a meaningful way. I will think of Norman often.

I grew up on Oxford street , just down from the forum and knew Normy all my life.  I have so many memories and stories about him. 
Playing my junior and university hockey, out of the forum, Normy was always there to cheer us on. Later on, during my many years of coaching Junior out of the form, Normy was always my assistant.
When on the ice running practices, Normy would be standing on the bench  giving the players their orders!
We, at times took him on the bus for road trips, my did he ever love his french fries! Every year when the team got new jackets, hats, etc. Normy was the first to get his. 
I don’t know if there’s anybody who spent more time in the forum as Normy - it would be nice to see a plaque in his honour on the wall.

I grew up around the corner where Normie lived on Summit St from 1963 to 1984.
I have so many stories on Normie I could write a book. 
I would see Normie at a rink, on the Halifax Commons and end up driving him home.  I drove him to work on Oxford St many times as I would see walking with his big lunch can.
I was working at Moosehead Brewery and always has promotional gear ( t- shirts, hats, etc) in my car. Normie would walk by my car and see what's in it  I lived in an apartment where you had to buzz to get into. Many times the buzzer would go off and I had to go downstairs. It was Normie looking for these items.
I always remember Normie coming to the Civic Arena with an Oland's tee shirt on and he realized our Moosehead Specials were playing. He went home and came back to the rink with a Moosehead shirt on!!
I would have loved to see his collection.

I have been involved with minor hockey and baseball in and around Dartmouth Cole Harbour for the past 40 years, and I’m not sure how it was possible, but Norm seemed to be at every game over the years, always with a pleasant smile and his big personality. Please accept my sincere condolences on your loss.

Norman was always such a trooper with needles and medical procedures. We all know he just liked the attention from the “nurses” (which included all staff)

To Norman's family: Your family and all of Halifax just lost an angel. Norman was a friend to many and we will all miss him. Seeing him and his partner in crime Danny, would bring a smile to many faces on the diamonds. They would cheer for all of their favourites but it didnt matter who won. I have always wondered how many hats we all gave to the two of them over the years. He, and Danny, are now together again, roaming the diamonds in the sky. May you rest peacefully old buddy!

Fred, Pat, Cindy & Matthew (and the other family I don't know well): We are sending along our deepest condolences.  Norman was like a part of our family, especially to my kids who have known him their whole life.  I will always hear Norman announcing, "And for the Lumberjacks, in goal, Mr. Johnny Drake". Norm you have left a big hole in my heart. We have so many memories of growing up together and having so much fun going swimming at the cottage.  Remember the time with the bat that was in the garage and you guys took off  leaving me by myself.
You would always  say ,  “ Barb remember when “   and  you would 
bring up another story.    Every  time we talked about the stories  you thought  they  were so funny . We both giggled as we talked about it. There is just so many more memories that I couldn't write them all down.
 You always would call me old fart. It made me laugh.
It was an honour to celebrate our birthdays together, and knowing that I was born on the same day as you, makes it more special we had a good week last week, laughing and singing to each other.
You may  be  gone, but you will “ Never be Forgotten “
Wish we there to say good- bye , but I will say good bye in my own way .
