

BARNETT, Patricia Eleanor – (nee Stinson) passed away peacefully at the Berkeley Retirement Home in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia on November 27, 2016 at age 92. Patricia was born in London, England in 1924. She emigrated at age 26 to Canada with her then husband Ron Gates and settled in Toronto, Ontario. Patricia pursued a career in office work and was working for Canada Wire at the time of her retirement. Patricia moved to Jamaica for six years. When she returned to Canada, Patricia chose to settle in Cambridge, Ontario. Even the adventurer, Patricia moved again at age 87 to Dartmouth, Nova Scotia to live close to her sister and best friend Maureen Butters. Patricia will be dearly missed by her family, her many friends and the staff at the Berkeley. Patricia is survived by her sister Maureen (Molly) Butters of Dartmouth, her nephews David (Maggie) Butters of King City, ON and Michael (Linda) Butters of Annapolis County, NS, seven great nieces, nephews and three great great nephews. She will be dearly missed by her step son Doug (Margaret) Barnett of Mitchell, Ontario, step granddaughters Erin, Ellen and great grandchildren Livia and Gwyn. She is preceded in death by her parents Ernest and Eleanor Stinson of Toronto, Ontario, her husband Tom Barnett of Toronto, Ontario and her brother in-law William Butters of Cambridge, Ontario. In her final months. Patricia was cared for by the staff at the Berkeley Retirement Home at 35 Eisener Boulevard in Dartmouth. Patricia’s family would like to express their profound gratitude for the excellent care and kindness that she received. At Patricia’s request there will be no public visitation or service.
