

It is with deep sorrow that the family of Peter MacLeod announce his sudden passing on December 30, 2024, peacefully at his home in Dartmouth. Born on February 18, 1935, in Stellarton, NS, Peter was the son of the late Gregor and Mary (MacDonald) MacLeod.
Peter is survived by his loving wife of 67 years Eileen (Smith), his children Glen (Theresa Young) Dartmouth; Kimberly (Andy Couvrette) Yellowknife, NT; Jane (Dave Young) Dartmouth; grandchildren Julia (Keigan Moore), Porters Lake; Peter (Sarah O’Halloran), Dartmouth; Krista (Scott Conway) Corner Brook, NL; Michael, Cody, and Meghan (Mathew Ventura) all of Dartmouth; and great grandchildren Vivian and Bryce Moore. He is also survived by 6 step grandchildren and 9 step great grandchildren; his sister Joyce MacLeod, Meadow Lake, SK; sister-in-law Dorothy (Smith) Fraser, Dartmouth; and brother-in-law Owen Smith, Moncton, NB and by several nieces and nephews who will forever cherish the memories they shared.
Peter was predeceased by his daughter Karen and son-in-law Norman Sears; brothers Don, Watson, Bob, and Fred; sisters Dot, Marg, and Betty.
Peter was a beloved husband, father, brother, cousin, uncle, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend who touched the lives of many with his kindness, generosity, and unwavering spirit. His favorite mantra was “be joyful always”! Peter lived a life full of love and dedication.
Peter worked for Bristol Myers Squibb, Clairol Division for 36 years. Through his work he travelled extensively across Atlantic Canada. At the time of his retirement, Peter was the longest serving employee of the company within Canada.
Peter was known for his positive traits, his love for his family and compassionate heart. He was an active member of Iona Presbyterian Church and very committed to his faith. He was a pillar of strength and a source of inspiration to all who knew him. Peter’s legacy will live on through the countless lives he impacted and the love he spread.
A celebration of life will be held on Monday, January 6, 2025, at 1:00 PM, Iona Presbyterian Church, 90 Lucien Drive, Dartmouth.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Peter may made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation. Interment to follow in Pictou County, NS during the Spring of 2025.
