You don't know me, but I worked with Peter for many years at MT&T. I was stunned when I heard of Peter's passing via FB. He will be greatly missed by everyone who ever associated with him. 
He always had a smile ready when ever he saw you or no matter what the issue. He was too young to go. Please accept my sincerest condolences.

Louise and Bill, as my sadness subsides I can now write how I enjoyed being around Peter.As you know I knew him from Junior High on through High school. We spent many hours playing sports together whatever the flavour of the day was. He was genuine,honest and funny. He was the real deal.My Mom and Dad used to say he was their favourite teenager....I guess they were trying to tell me something. After Karen met him for the first time she said "What a great guy" enough said.When I left Nova Scotia 40 years ago only to come back for family visits Peter made every effort to see me and if not he would call...that is who he was.Although he will be greatly missed we all are thankful that we had the privilege of knowing him.

Though we did not know him personally, we knew him through his overall contribution to curling in Nova Scotia. I was a curler many years ago and an avid reader of curling in our province and nationally. So much has been said of Peter and it's all true.  For someone who only came to know him over a short period of time (I recently moved here from away), he was one of NS greatest ambassadors in making newcomers not only welcome but part of the family.  In my case, it was the curling family.  According to Peter, my golf game was sandy and that was expected for a young buck ;-) and that's only because I played well that day.
Peter was fun to be around through both good and not so good times.  It was true pleasure to have had the opportunity to play and socialize with Peter.  A true gentleman to the end.  Some thing I will always cherish.

I was saddened today when I learned that Peter had passed away.  
I competed against him several times in the Trans-Canada Telephone
Employees Curling Championships.  He was such a great guy both on and off the ice.
One of my best memories was a terrific playoff game we had against him and Alan in 1996 here in Winnipeg. Afterwards I joked with him about me moving to Nova Scotia and he replied that he would curl for me anytime!  Coming from a guy like Peter, that truly meant alot to me.

It was with great shock and sadness that we learned of Peter's sudden passing and we send you both our sincerest deepest condolences at this very difficult time. 

Louise,having met you both 40 years ago at DCC and the few years we enjoyed so much there curling and working for the sport we all loved, has always left a lasting impression of our highest esteem in which you were both included. Things like that are most cherished in our lives and leave everlasting fond memories.

Billy, I know how much your Dad thought of you and how trilled and proud he was to assist you in becoming a curler who excelled in the sport.

Oh how Maureen and I wish we were there to wrap our arms around you to convey something of how we feel about the loss of our dear friend Peter. I can't imagine how you are both feeling right now but just know that you are both very much on our minds and in our prayers as we try to understand this tragedy. Peter and I met in grade one and I am proud to have known him as a dear friend, able sports opponent as well as team mate, and above all else as a true gentleman in every sense of the word. I was so priviliged to have been able to speak with him just before Christmas when of course Peter was demonstrating his caring nature by helping a child in need by buying them a Christmas gift. 

Unfortunately we are in Florida for the winter and won't be there in person for the funeral. But you can depend that our hearts and minds will be there in spirit.We are comforted by the knowledge that Peter is now in the everlasting arms of our Lord and we know with certainty that he is working his majic in Heaven.  We can not adequatly express how shocked and saddened we were to hear of Pete's passing. As you know Pete and I worked together for many years, and never have I met a man who was more of a gentleman and more honest. I can't tell you the number of times his sense of humor had the two of us in stitches. One time he suggested we start a business together and we would use part of his name and part of mine as the company name.....he said we could call it MacPhee Co. Ltd.

I want you to know that in my opinion a great person has been taken from our middst. Although Pete and I have talked infrequently in our retirement years I always asked about him through mutual friends and felt I was still somewhat in touch.I know I am but one of hundreds who feel they have lost a great friend....but I am proud to be counted as a friend of a person for whom I had such great respect and admiration.

Bill you and I only met one or twice (when you were young) but I had the pleasure of hearing many "Bill" stories from your dad when we worked together.....one of which I tell to this day! Bill I can only say, if the rest of us can be half the man your father was .....we will be twice the man most  are!

I was shocked when I heard the news of Peter's passing. I had curled against Peter a numer of times throughout the years and was blessed with the opportunity to meet you and curl with Peter in the 2007 Telephone Nationals. As a last minute subtitution he not only made me feel welcome but he made me feel as if I was part of the team since day one. That's just the way Peter was. I am honored to say that I was once on a team with him.

Louise and family     Our hearts go out to you.Peter was a good friend to the Henderson family, and the connections go back a long way. He  was a workmate of my brothers Phil and Turk's at MT&T, and our Mums, Bill [Miller] and Marge [Campbell] both grew up in Stewiacke East. I first met Peter, as many did, in a curling rink, where his teams invariably trounced our team in bonspiels or in provincial play. He was very genuine, and took the time to dispense advice [ when asked] and encouraged us to continue practising and improving. Many 'stars", and Peter was one of the very brightest curling stars, may not have given rank amateurs like us the time of day, but he was genuinely happy to talk anytime ! Those of us in Brookfield will not forget how he carved time out of a busy curling schedule to come play at the Brookfield Curling Club in the Don Henderson Memorial Sportsplex, bestowing credibility on that young facility.    Remember the many good times, and take comfort in knowing that Peter was respected and well- liked by huge numbers of people he met on his life's journey.      Mike and Brenda Henderson

Dear Louise and William:
I was very saddened to hear about Peter. Like many people who knew him, we met through curling. I considered him a friend although we never curled together. He was a fine gentleman both on and off the ice. I used to step into the Edwin Watts golf shop when I would come to Halifax to look around and say hello to Peter. On one of these visits Peter introduced me to a friend of his and described me as a very fine curler. I always though that as a fine compliment coming from a curler who was recognized as one of the finest curlers not only in Nova Scotia but all of Canada. When I was working on my game, I would always say to myself "try to deliver the rock as smoothly as Peter MacPhee"
I know how he loved getting to P.E.I to play the other sport he loved, golf. We always found it easy to have a conversation with one another. I am very sorry for your loss. 
P.S. I played on the front end of Ted MacFadyen's team for many years.

As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends.
