Peter Howard Moir

It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our father and grandfather Peter H. Moir on October 23, 2024.

Peter was a long-time employee of the Canadian Coast Guard (Finance Department). It was while in the Coast Guard bowling league that he met the love of his life, Nancy. Making a home in Dartmouth and raising their four children, Peter and Nancy enjoyed 55 years of a loving marriage.

An avid Patriots fan, Peter would often be the most audible fan in the room! His love for Tom Brady was so great that he named his cat after him.

Known for his quick wit and strategic card playing, Peter was a faithful Crib and Bridge player at Brightwood G&CC and the Owls Club.

Peter enjoyed bbqing, especially for his entire family. Peter and Nancy loved to summer with the extended family in Pictou where many fond memories were made are the bbq and family cookouts.

Peter also had a love for music. His eclectic taste in music included Dr. Hook, Harry Chapin, Queen, Earth Wind and Fire and Neil Diamond were some of his favourites. That diversity and love for music can be seen passed down to his children as well.

Peter was predeceased by Nancy in November of 2023, we take comfort in the thought of their reunion at this difficult time for us. Peter is survived by his adoring children, Lisa (David), Belinda (Patrick), Leanna (John) and Jason (Christine), and grandchildren, Christopher, Ryan, Carly, Holly, Michael, Julie and Tanner as well as great-grandchildren, Jace, Jealyn and Aiden.

Memorial donations in Peter’s memory may be made to a charity of your choice.

A private family service will take place at a later date.
