Mom and Dad... we will cherish the wonderful memories of you. They are etched in our hearts forever and will be passed on to my 2 adorable grandsons Kailas (4-1/2 years old) and Biren (1-1/2 years old ) and any others to follow, so that they know about their maternal great grandparents. When they grow up they will read these tributes and realize that they were there to say goodbye to their great grand grandma. Dad left a thumbnail sketch 25 years ago that will be passed on to them so they get to know about him too. Love you both.

On behalf of my wife, my children and grand-children I would like to express our deepest and heart felt sympathy for the lost of a most beautiful person and sister-in-law.

I personally have known this beautiful  lady practically all my life.I too have difficulty putting my heartfelt thoughts into words when my emotions get in the way.I have known her to be loving, kind and caring. 

Since she was married to my eldest brother and living under the same roof made her part of my life.
I especially remember spending holidays at their homes be it in Siparia or San Fernando and thoroughly enjoying all of it.Her meals were always delicious, and  always wanting more.Only one condition applied that you were washed and cleaned up to sit at the dining table which was set to perfection.

I also remember her telling me of an incident when food was being served and none was offered to me, I shouted what about me. Since then that name stuck to me like glue. Since then all her children call me Uncle"Me". I am very proud to be remembered that way by my dearest nephews (Lincoln, Kelly, Kenneth and Wayne and not to forget my niece Lystra.

I am so fortunate to have known her.Whenever I think of her I always picture her with that radiant smile.she was always so warm and welcoming, and I hope and pray that GOD would give us the ability to grasp  at least a semblance of the dignity she displayed in her life.

I know that she is in a better place  right now.She is where she always wanted to be and that is with her heavenly father and Lord of All. May the Almighty GOD bless one and all as we grieve her loss.

I have known and admired Mrs. and Mrs. Bhola from my childhood. Cintra and I were so privileged to spend some time with Phyllis on our visit to Dartmouth two years ago. We remember her hospitality and her warmth. 

I always remember her calling me "little Moses," and telling a familiar story about a special roti. I wish she had forgotten that. 

We have had a close friendship with Lystra and family, and of course Lincoln was my classmate and friend for many years in Siparia. These all strenghtened the bond between us.

Phyllis Bhola was a lady on earth and is now bringing her grace and dignity to her new place with God.

I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Phyllis, she was my client at Sears Hair Salon for over a year. I looked forward to seeing her,she always had so many stories to tell me,and I loved her giggle,she was an amazing lady.

This note is filled with emotion, and has taken a long time to be released from my aching heart.  I share it with my cousins – Lincoln, Lystra, Kenneth, Kelly and Wayne, because I want you to know that I too loved your mother and will miss her until we meet again.  Maybe this will help our children know a little more about how close we were growing up, and the impact you had on your younger cousins when we visited your home, and adored you and your parents as role models of the type of people we hoped we'd grow up to be.  Know this: though time and distance separates us, the admiration and love etched in the memories of young children remains and does not disappear.

Auntie Phyllis was many things to all of us.  Her compassionate love touched our lives in deep and caring ways.  My mother tells me that Auntie Phyllis loved me before I was even born.  That, before my birth, she and Uncle Hamilton provided a home for me to come to in Siparia, when my parents did not have a place of their own. Your home on Sobrian St. where Lincoln and his family now live was also my first home, and for that blessing I am eternally grateful.

Throughout my life I always knew that my beautiful, charming, intelligent, kind aunt was always there for me.  Whenever we met she spoke with such warmth and affection, that our time apart felt nonexistent.  Yet, I've been so busy with my own life (you know the usual things school, work, raising a family, facing the challenges of sojourning in a foreign land …head-on, helping others, etc – all things Auntie Phyllis excelled at) that I allowed decades to fly by without letting her ever know how much I loved her, looked up to her and appreciated her kindness.  She was, to me, a shining example of what it is to be an exemplary human being.  The Jaycees Creed says that “Service to humanity is the best work of life.”  Auntie Phyllis believed this and took action serving her community and empowering women in an era when it was not popular.  She was truly a pioneer and a role model.

My memories of my blessed aunt will be filled with admiration for a beautiful, highly intelligent human being whose life was characterized by integrity, compassion, and a keen sense of humor.  May we all hope to live a life that is as full, and leave a legacy of love that impacted the lives of so many in positive ways.

To the relatives and friends of Auntie Phyllis:  Let us honor her memory by learning from her example of how to treat people with courtesy, dignity and respect.  In her presence, I always felt uplifted and cared for as a human being.  Wouldn't it be great if we could all help everyone with whom we interact to feel this way?  Peace and blessings to you all during this time of introspection, healing and solace.
