

JONES (RITCEY), REGINA “BABE” - 83, Dartmouth, slipped away on December 26 after spending a very special Christmas, surrounded by her loving family. She was the youngest daughter of the late James W. and Theodosia (Harpell) Ritcey. Babe worked as a registered laboratory technologist at the Pathology Institute in Halifax where she retired in 1980. An avid rug hooker, she was a founding member of the Dartmouth Matters and a member of the RHGNS. She valued the friendships and support found within this special group. Babe was a life-long member of Grace United Church where she thoroughly enjoyed the fellowship she shared with her fellow parishioners. An enthusiastic gardener, she enjoyed spending the summers at her cottage in Cape John, Pictou County with her pet yorkie Dickens and later Tawny. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Surviving are sons, John (Cathy) Mitchell, Sherwood Park, Alberta; Paul Mitchell, China; daughters CoraLee (Jeff) Corkum, Dartmouth; and Theo Mitchell, Dartmouth; her grandchildren Christopher, Jennifer, Wesley and Mitchell and her sister, Hazel Grace Webber, Dartmouth; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband Frederick Mitchell; second husband John J Jones, stepson Glen Jones and brothers Owen and Norman Ritcey. Visitation will be in A. L. Mattatall Funeral Home, 217 Portland St., Dartmouth, NS, on Wednesday, December 29 from 6-8 pm. The funeral service will be held at Grace United Church, 70 King St. Dartmouth on Thursday, December 30 at 11 am with Reverend Stephen Fram officiating. Burial will be in the United Church Cemetery, Musquodoboit Harbour. The family will meet friends for a reception following the service at Grace United Church.
