Purdy, Robert E. “Bob” – 82 of Dartmouth, passed away December 30, 2012 at home. Born in Toronto, he was the son of the late Sterling “S.E.” and Cora (Beaumont) Purdy. In his youth, growing up in Truro, he was an avid hockey player as well as a bowler. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Bob was a life member of the Austenville Owls Club. Bob had a passion for harness racing, spending many days with his good friend Sandy Fraser, at the Truro Raceway. He worked in the industrial valve and fitting industry most of his life, primarily with Lytle Specialties. Survived by his loving wife of 58 years Anne Margaret (Hartley); sons, David (Debby) of Cole Harbour and Steven (Tammy) of Regina; sister, Helen Street of Indiana; granddaughter, Kristin, many nieces and nephews. Bob was predeceased by brothers Dalton, Frank and Burton. In honor of his wishes, there will be no visitation. There will be a memorial service 11:00 am Friday, January 4, 2013 at Luthern Church of Our Savior, 255 Portland Street, Dartmouth, Pastor Steven Croft officiating.
