Ronald Edward MacKenzie

Passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 17, 2015 in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII at the age of 82. Born in Eastern Passage, he was the son of the late Reginald and Mildred Mae MacKenzie. Ron is survived by his loving wife Maureen of 54 years; sons Tom (Sandy) and Bob (Kim); grandchildren Gillian (Michael), Bonnie (David), Christian (Kaitlin), Chelsea, and Colin; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters Elizabeth “Betty” Foston and Madelyn (John) Ross; sister in law Mona Saldon (nee Jennings) and many nieces and nephews. Ron is predeceased by his first wife Ella Mae Jennings, daughter Shelly R. MacKenzie and great-grandson Aiden. Ron was a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit in Dartmouth. In his days he was employed with Dartmouth Machine Company, and later Imperial Oil Refinery from where he retired in 1993. For many years Ron was the pipe major of the Somme Branch Royal Canadian Legion Pipe and drum band in Dartmouth. Cremation has taken place and no visitation by request with burial at a later date. Funeral Service will be held in A. L. Mattatall Funeral Home on Monday November 23 at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
