

Doleman, Ruth Dorothy - 90, of Dartmouth, NS, passed away early on December 31, 2010, at Oceanview Manor, Eastern Passage, NS. Born in Victoria, BC, she was the daughter of the late Lewis Harding Williams and Helen Maud (Wiley) Williams. Ruth spent her early years living in parts of western Canada and northwestern U.S., and later lived in Lockeport, NS, with foster parents George and Lulu Capstick. Ruth and her husband, Lindsay Doleman, ran a general store in Lockeport for many years. She was very active in the Lockeport United Baptist Church, singing in the church choir among other activities, was an avid bowler, loved gardening, flower arranging, baking, ceramics, knitting, sewing, walking at MicMacMall in later years when they moved to Dartmouth, and continued her church affiliation at Bethel United Baptist Church in Dartmouth.
She is survived by her son George (Janet), Dartmouth, NS; her daughters Linda Levy, Brampton, ON, and Eileen Doleman, Yarmouth, NS; brother Bill (Leora) Williams, Westphal, NS, sisters Jean (Gerald) Clancey, Dartmouth, NS, Evelyn (Don) Henry, Stayner, ON, Eileen Matthews, Dartmouth, NS; grandchildren Rene (Michelle) Levy, Brampton, ON, Shawn (Chantal) Levy, Georgetown, ON, Joanna Vahlsing, New York, NY, Kate Doleman, Halifax, NS, Michael Doleman, Maple Ridge, BC; great-grandchildren Laura, Cherie, Victoria Levy, Brampton, ON, Ethan and Tyler Levy, Georgetown, ON; sisters-in-law Dene Williams, Dartmouth, NS, Margaret Williams, Sandy Point, NS; several nephews and nieces and grand-nephews and -nieces.
Along with her parents, Ruth was pre-deceased by her husband Lindsay St. Clair Doleman, sister Doris Thorburn, and brothers Gordon and Lewis Williams. Special thanks are extended to the staff of Oceanview Manor, Eastern Passage, who took such great care of Mom. All are welcome to attend visitation at Mattatall’s Funeral Home, 217 Portland St., Dartmouth, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, January 3, 2011. Funeral service will be held at Bethel United Baptist Church, 316 Windmill Road, Dartmouth, NS, at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 4, 2011, Rev. Dr. Vance Arbeau officiating. Burial in Lockeport Cemetery following church service. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ruth’s memory to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or Bethel United Baptist Church are welcomed.
