

SHRUM, Shirley Joan (Anderson) - 88, of Dartmouth passed away Monday, December 19 at the Palliative Care Unit of the V.G. Hospital with family by her side. She was the daughter of the late Tom and Hilda Anderson. Shirley grew up in Lr. East Chezzetcook surrounded by family, food and music which greatly influenced her life. She played piano and sang with her brother Laurie’s band at local dances for many years. Shirley was happiest in her kitchen where she could always manage to feed whoever dropped by. You never left her house hungry. She enjoyed attending card games and made many friends there. In retirement years she and Victor traveled to many places in the U.S and Europe but there was no place like being home with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Shirley is survived by her daughter Wendy (Mike Bell), son Randy (Rose Anne) daughter Shelley (Mark Murray), grandchildren, Amy Edwards (Jonathan), Josh Sanderson (Shaunna), Jarrett Shrum (Brittany), Scott Bell (Brittany) Sarah Shrum (Luke) Great grandchildren Regan Gallant, Cooper Anstey, Cameron Sanderson, Chloe Edwards, Koraline and Finley Bell. She is also survived by her brother, Donnie Anderson of Lr. East Chezzetcook and many nieces and nephews. Shirley was predeceased only four months ago by her husband Victor. Also predeceased by brothers Murray, Charlie, Ross and Laurie and sister Hazel Bateman. A special thanks to those who helped Shirley in her nine-month battle with cancer, Drs. Harrigan, Flynn and Swift and palliative nurses Nick and Thea and numerous others. Funeral will be held on Saturday, January 7, at 11 am at the Church of the Holy Spirit, Regency Dr., Dartmouth. In lieu of flowers donations would be appreciated in Shirley’s memory to the Cancer Society.
