Shirley Marie Wilkinson

WILKINSON, Shirley Marie - 76, Eastern Passage, passed away peacefully at home in the presence of her family Saturday, April 9, 2011. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Allen and Mabel (Osgood) Soward.

Shirley wanted to be remembered for being a good mother. She loved her family very much. Her children and grandchildren brought her great joy. She could be described as a mother to children outside of her family as well, providing care through the years. Survived by her children, Shirley Lydiard (James), Lower Sackville; Mark (Brenda), Dartmouth; Stevan, Cape Breton; grandchildren, Crystal and Jason Smith; Christopher and Nicholas Wilkinson; Ashley and Samantha Wilkinson; great-granddaughter, Faith; sister, Patricia Gosselin, Dartmouth; special niece, "little Marie" an several nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by loving husband of 43 years, Henry; son, Henry; brothers, Allan, Ted, Charlie and Frank; sister, Ruby.

Visitation will be held 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 PM Wednesday, April 13 at A. L. Mattatall Funeral Home, 217 Portland Street, Dartmouth. A funeral service will be held 2 PM Thursday, April 14 at St. Peter's Anglican Church, 346 Cowbay Road, Eastern Passage. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
