

Mantley, Stephen Foster - 51. It is with deep sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Stephen on Saturday June 30, 2012 at Mount Sinai Hospital, Toronto. Born August 1, 1960, in Africville, NS he was the son of Bertha (Parris) and the late Charles Mantley. Stephen earned his B.A. degree from Dalhousie University, majoring in Sociology. After graduation he moved to Toronto, where working with children gave him the greatest joy. He enjoyed reading, photography and listening to music. He was very charismatic and had a real zest for life. He was well liked by all who knew him and will be greatly missed.
Stephen is survived by his sons, Shay, of Vancouver and Cameron, of Toronto; sisters, Barbara Sambury, Houston, TX, Shirley Jafralie, Montreal, Cynthia Carpenter (Patrick), Calgary, Charlotte, Toronto, Beverly, Charlene (Kevin) McDermott of Dartmouth; brothers, Alan, Christopher and Lionel, all of Dartmouth, Charles (Theresa), Calgary, Leslie (Brenda), Edmonton; special niece Daina (Fred) Crooks; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Charles Edward Mantley Sr., two uncles; four aunts and two sets of grandparents. A sincere thank you to the nurses and doctors ar Mount Sinai Hospital for their wonderful care of Stephen and their compassion for the family. A very special thank you to Stephen’s sister Charlotte for being his caregiver. Visitation will be held on Monday July 9th from 7-9pm in A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home, 217 Portland Street, Dartmouth. Funeral service will be held at 1pm Tuesday July 10th from Victoria Road United Baptist Church. Family flowers only.
