Joan & David: I was out of town when you lost your dad.  I certainly would have attended the visitation and shared with you personally the deep respect I had for your dad.  I got to know him initially when he became a board member of the Downtown Davenport Development Corporation and of course due to our involvement with the German American Heritage Center.  Your dad was one of two or three people who had the vision to acquire the building site and then to contribute resources, financial and labor, in saving and renovating the building.  For a number of years he was President of the Board and continued to serve on the Building and Grounds Committee.  He was one of those bright individuals who made a difference in whatever project or organization with which he was involved.  He will be missed.

I was out of town when my friend Al passed and regretfully didn't get back until the day after the funeral.  I will miss our Friday afternoon conversations at the Rusty Nail. While enjoying an adult beverage we talked of growing up in the fifties, mutual friends and experiences, and of course politics, world problems, etc. If only someone took notes many todays problems would be solved. Al, I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to say good-by. I will miss you buddy but eventually we'll continue our talks on the other side.

So sorry for your loss.  Just so you all know, Marie passed away this morning.

Al was a first class person in every way I got to know him over the years since the mid-1990s.  His generosity and willingness to be both leader and follower set a standard for the rest of us involved with the German American Heritage Center.  My sincerest condolences to Al's family.

David and Joan, So sorry to hear about the passing of your dad.  My thoughts and prayers are with you both.

Joni, So sorry for your loss.  I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.

Al Tank was a pioneer and leader of the transmission rebuilding industry. I've had the pleasure of knowing Al for many years. He has blessed many lives over the years and was truly a delight to be around. May God bless the Tank family.

As the dove soars high into the sky, so does Uncle Al.     He once needed the wings of a plane to grace the skies.   Now he freely flies amoung the flocks.   He had lived a full life filled with love, baseball and beer.  Know that you are in our hearts and thoughts throughout the coming days weeks and months.
