Alice M. Bartz

Alice M. Bartz, 89, of Bettendorf passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf. Private family graveside services were held at Rock Island National Cemetery. Cunnick-Collins Mortuary and Cremation Service assisted the family with arrangements. Alice Marie Nitardy was born on March 6, 1928 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Rudolph and Marie (Lehman) Nitardy. Following her high school graduation, she achieved her cosmetology license from La James School of Cosmetology. On October 27, 1948, she married George H. Bartz in Toeterville, IA. He preceded her in death in 1993. In her earlier years, Alice owned and operated a beauty salon. She was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, Davenport. She is survived by her Children: James (Kay) Bartz of Anderson, SC, Ellen (Dennis) DeRycke of Davenport; Grandchildren: James Bartz Jr., Carrie Bartz, Erika Wakefield; two Great-Grandchildren: Dallas Wakefield IV, Ella Wakefield; Siblings: Bob Nitardy, Barbara Rose, Margaret Buenger, Carolyn Gerdts, Joe Nitardy; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Otto. Memorials may be directed to the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Iowa Masonic Home, or to St. Mark Lutheran Church.
