

Alice M. Cooper, 94, of West Liberty, Iowa passed away on Sunday, September 2, 2018 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa. Per her wishes she will be cremated. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 10, 2018 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Runge Mortuary, Davenport, Iowa. Graveside committal service will follow at 12:00 p.m. at the Rock Island National Cemetery where she will be laid to rest. Memorials may be made to Iowa City Hospice. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com. Alice was born on November 21, 1923 in Manchester, Iowa to Otto and Lula (Griffin) Burns. She was united in marriage to Samuel E. Cooper on August 1, 1947 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She worked as a secretary at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral of Davenport for 13 years, retiring in 1979. She was also a secretary and member of 4H Club, garden club, and women’s circle. Alice enjoyed all forms of crafts, including quilting, knitting, crocheting, macramé, and candle making. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren dearly. She also enjoyed sewing clothes for herself and her family. She was a well-traveled woman. Those left honoring her memory are her loving husband of 71 years, Samuel, children: David (Renee) Cooper of West Medford, Massachusetts, Diane (Dean) Beranek of West Liberty, Iowa and Debbie (Tom) Kleinschmidt of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, five grandchildren, three great grandchildren and one on the way, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sister.
