Close friends and family are invited to attend a Memorial Service following the visitation.
Allan was born on September 5, 1947 in Canby, Minnesota to Sanford and Dorothy Thovson. He grew up there, and after serving in Vietnam, moved to Minneapolis, MN. He then began his 35-year career at Solar Plastics and married Dianne Reynolds on September 14, 1973. Dedicated to his job and loyal to his company, Allan moved his family to Davenport, IA, in 1984 to work as Vice President of a new branch of Solar Plastics.
Allan's greatest joys in life were his family. He attended every volleyball, baseball, and football game. He spent hours playing catch, shagging volleyballs, and having fun with his children. He worked hard to provide them with every opportunity in life. His words of wisdom, logical advice, and constant support were gifts of unconditional love. In the last 20 years, Allan had an opportunity to change careers, and enjoyed the new challenges and friends he made in real estate. He continued to play and express love to his grandchildren and found great joy in being a part of their lives. He loved the beach and the many happy memories he made at Belleair Beach, FL with his family. He also appreciated a special trip with his wife to Hawaii.
Allan was a loving and devoted husband. He was a wonderful father and grandfather. He loved his family greatly and enjoyed life. One of his favorite things to do was spend special time at the Muscatine Golf Course with his golfing buddies. He was respected and admired by all who knew him. He will be deeply missed.
Those left to honor his memory include his children and their families: Katie Thovson, Teresa Louw, Bailey (Brad) Wild (Haylie, Tanner, Kayla), Hannah Maberry (fiance Kyle Davis), Logan and Kyra Thovson; James and Katherine Thovson, Alexandra, Oliver, and Emmett Thovson; parents Sanford and Dorothy Thovson (MN); brothers Bill Thovson and his family (SD) and Jim Thovson and his family (MN); sisters Diane Thovson and her family (IA), Susan Adams and her family (CO), and Becky Thovson and her family (MN); brother-in-law Roger Reynolds and his family (MN); his loyal companion, Kobe; and a host of other extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dianne, and his parents-in-law, James and Juliana Reynolds.
