I miss Arnold alot....as he always told everyone...he had me in training.  He would call me up on a Saturday morning and say "meet me at so and so...you are buying".   Yes, I went!  Rest in peace Arnold!

Sorry to find that Arnold has passed away.  He and his family were neighborhood friends of ours in Centerville.  Good memories.  Condolences to his  family!

Sorry to hear of the passing of Arnold. I remember the good
times my parents and I had at the Norman Thanksgiving 
Dinners.  Arnold was very nice to my parents. It sounds
like he had a good life with his loving family. I will keep
him in my prayers. 

I was shocked to hear of Arnolds  passing, you will always be remembered, you helped me break my first horse, R. I. P. my good friend, my prayers are with Lynda and family

ARNOLD, YOU KNEW MY ENTIRE FAMILY FROM MY TWIN SISTER. JUANITA SWAIN , TO MY DAD, AND MOM, FERNALD "NELSON" NELSON AND  ELEANOR NELSON.  I RECALL WHEN JOEL GOT INTO MISCHIEF AND YOU MARCHED HIM UPSTAIRS, SAYING, 'YOU ARE GOING  TO STAY IN YOUR BED ROOM UNTIL YOU ARE AN OLD MAN,"  AND JOEL REPLIED, "BUT DADDY,  CAN I COME OUT TO SHAVE???"  ANOTHER TIME JOEL DROPPED RICHARD'S SHAVING KIT IN THE TOILET; JOEL FISHED IT OUT SAYING, "RICHARD, THIS IS GOING TO BE BETWEEN YOU AND ME!"  ARNOLD REALLY LOVED HIS SON AND, HE HAD RED HAIR SO HE WAS HELD IN HIGH ESTEEM BY "RED" GUFFEY, ANOTHER RED HEADED FRIEND.  IN ARNOLD'S EYES, THERE WAS NEVER ANYTHING JOEL COULD NOT DO!  THAT IS TO SAY, WHEN  JOEL GREW UP!!! THERE IS A LIFETIME OF MEMORIES WE ALL HAD  AND I CHERISHED THEM ALL!  WE  NEVER KNEW WHAT YOU MIGHT DO!  FROM RIDING MOTORCYCLES TO RACING HORSES---YOU DID IT ALL!  THERE WAS NEVER A DULL MINUTE WHEN YOU WERE AROUND!  RICHARD WAS YOUR BEST FRIEND AND NO MATTER WHERE HE MIGHT BE, ARNOLD FOUND TIME TO SEE ABOUT HIM.  ARNOLD WAS A TRUE BEST FRIEND!  HE WAS A MAN OF HUMOR AND COURAGE.  HIS SMILE BRILLIANT,  (I WISH OTHER FOLKS COULD TRY IT ONCE AND A WHILE).  THERE WAS NEVER A FRIEND ARNOLD DID NOT HELP!!!  HE WAS A DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH!!!  REST WELL, MY OLD FRIEND AND SAY HI TO RICHARD.  HE LOVED YOU TOO.  

I am so sorry  to read of Arnold's passing. I went to school with him in Centerville. He was always so very quite. My brother Howard Hurt was good friends with the Norman's.  May God Bless each of you. Prayers for the family.

ARNOLD, AND LYNDA FOR THE MEMORIES!!!  WE HAVE KNOWN EACH OTHER FOREVER AND I SO HAVE RESPECTED YOUR PRESENCE.  I REMEMBER YOU ALMOST RUNNING DOWN THE STREET IN ROCK ISLAND,  SCURRYING TO GET TO YOUR JOB AS I WAS HEADING OUT WHEN I WORKED FOR SOCIAL SERVICES---YOU WERE ALWAYS ON THE RUN!!!  YOU HAVE SO TAUGHT ME A LOT ABOUT HORSES AND POLITICIANS AND I ENJOYED WITH YOUR CONVERSATIONS LIKE HOW YOU GOT YOUR  NAME AND MANY OTHERS.  YOU ARE FAMILY AND PLEASE, SAY HEY TO RICHARD IN HEAVEN.  YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!!  SLEEP WELL WITH THE ANGELS!!!

Our wedding was very special because my brother-in-law walked me down the aisle. Gosh the jokes he would tell me. The funny stories. He would quiz me on things I knew nothing about! What a wonderful man. He will be truly missed.  Tony and Debbie.

Arnold was a great friend who had a desire to always help people in need.  At a time when I was struggling many years ago, he would call up every Saturday morning and say " Meet me at Harlan's, you're buying" and the next Saturday it was the same except "I'm buying" then he would invite me to go to a sale or look at hay, etc. and would not take "no" for an answer.  Those times got me involved in life again.  As well, there is little he wouldn't do for his children, grandchildren or great grandchildren.   If they thought about it, they could come with many stories with the same theme.  I could not have had a better racehorse partner than Arnold!  Sincere condolences to Lynda and the entire Norman family.  Ron

Uncle Arnold had one of the best smiles ever. I was not around often, but when I was he and Aunt Linda was always kind and caring. My sincere sympathy to Aunt Linda and family.
