Arrie Mae Haynes

Arrie Mae (Craig) Haynes was born December 20, 1947, in Gholston, Mississippi. Arrie was the 6th child of Willis Richard Craig and Luella Burrage-Craig. She graduated from High School in Macon, Mississippi. Arrie (Mae) married Uri Haynes Jr. in Mississippi and out of the relationship was born a son, Dewayne Haynes. Arrie (Mae) later moved to Davenport, IA where she and Uri eventually divorced.

Later she met the late Raymond Jackson and was blessed with a son, Vincent Jackson. She worked at various locations in Davenport, IA, before being employed by Mid-American Energy for 25 years until she was medically retired.

Arrie (Mae) accepted Christ as her personal Savior early in life. She united with Temple Baptist Church in Davenport, Iowa under the leadership of Pastor Gabriel Barber III. She sang in the choir, served as a member of the Mission Board, and the Brenda Martinez Scholarship Fund.

She loved family and took every opportunity to get her family together, no matter what the occasion. Arie (Mae) was always available to those that need help. This was the quality that her family and friends loved best about her.

Her hobbies included cooking (she loved cooking Greens and Cornbread), watching soap operas, walking, shopping, attending sporting events, Church and traveling. Mae also loved talking on the phone and made sure when she ended her call, she always said “I love you!”

Arrie (Mae) leaves to cherish her memories her two sons: Dewayne Haynes of

Davenport, IA, and Vincent (Danielle) Jackson of Macomb, MI; 7 grandchildren: Lequesha Haynes, Marcus Cumberworth-Haynes, Jasmine Hernandez-Haynes, Diontrey and Zaydion Abley, Vincent Amare and Keylon Jackson;

5 great-grandchildren: Amuri and Zaquoia Wyatt, Varo, Hendrix, Dehalia Haynes; two sisters: Alaie (Virgil) Tyson and Dorothy Craig both of Davenport, IA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and sisters: Linda Sue Burnett, Lueretha Edwards, and Lessie Mae Stewart; brothers: Johnnie B., Willie D. and Theotis Craig; and a nephew, Bruce Edwards.
