Barbara Ann Coons

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday January 31, 2026 at 2 pm in the Runge Mortuary & Crematory Chapel. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time. Barb was laid to rest in a private ceremony at the Rock Island National Cemetery. Donations may be made in Barb's name to the Scott County Humane Society. Barbara was born on October 22, 1950, in Malcolm Iowa to Harold and Opal (Braden) Van Winkle. She was united in marriage to Ron Coons. She retired in 2018 after 45 years of service as an administrative assistant for both Genesis Health and Christiana Care. Barbara loved reading, scrapbooking, country line dancing and motorcycle riding. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family. She was an avid animal lover and dog-mom to Gus and Ruby Sue.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Ron; sons, Erik Finch, Christopher Coleman-Finch, Jason Tutor; son-in-law, Rusty Coleman; 2 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; brothers, Gary Van Winkle, Mike Van Winkle; sister, Denise McNeal; special daughters, Roslind, Tiesha and Nichol.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents.
