

Barbara Mae Davis, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, teacher and cherished community member passed away peacefully with family at her side on Sunday, September 1, 2024. Per her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Life Service will take place at Weerts Funeral Home on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at 2 p.m. Visitation will begin at 12 p.m. and conclude at the time of service. Guests are invited to wear blue, as it was Barb’s favorite color. She will be laid to rest at Davenport Memorial Park at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be left to the Alzheimer’s Association or Federated Music Teachers Association for a piano scholarship.
Barb was born to Joseph and Carolina Stuhr in 1934. Barb was the sister of Joseph, Donald, Richard, and Joyce Stuhr, who remains the last of the Stuhr siblings.
Barb was a 1952 graduate of Davenport High School. She married Jack Bruchmann in 1955, with whom she shared 14 years of marriage and three daughters: Kristin Bruchmann, Davenport; Beth Bruchmann, Cumming, GA; and Alison (TJ) Burden, Alpharetta, GA. In 1973, Barb found love again with Richard Davis and two additional daughters: Jean (Ali) Sharif, Omaha, NE; and Laura Valdez, Dixon, IL. Dick and Barb were blessed with a 51 year marriage.
Barb was a gifted music teacher dedicating 13 years to Holy Family Catholic School. She was also a well-known Quad Cities piano teacher for over 40 years. Her students remember her as a patient and inspiring teacher who shared her love of music with all who knew her. Her influence extended beyond the classroom as she actively volunteered with the Quad City Symphony and served as the choir director at both Holy Family Catholic Church and Holy Cross Lutheran Church, where she also directed the handbell choir.
Known for her warmth and generosity, Barb was a renowned hostess, making everyone who knew her feel welcome and loved. Her community involvement and the joy she spread through music and hospitality have left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege to know her.
Barb's legacy includes eight grandsons: Gabriel, Marc, and Eric Valdez; Ali, Comi, and Mateen Sharif; and Donovan and Broderick O'Linn. Her love also extended to her five great-grandchildren: Gabriel II, Kinnick, Ashlie, Rosemary, and Kaylee.
Barb's memory will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, students, and all those whose lives she touched through her music and service. She will be deeply missed.
