Bernadette was born December 4, 1920, in Bernard, IA, daughter of James and Agnes (McDermott) Waddick. She was united in marriage to Dr. Charles M. Vaccaro on September 18, 1941 in Dubuque, IA, who preceded her in death on February 26, 1982.
Bernadette enjoyed researching her family genealogy. She especially enjoyed her trip to Ireland with her son, Charles. She had a great sense of humor and enjoyed going to the casino. Bernadette was a devout Catholic who prayed daily for others. She lived alone in her home in Davenport until she was almost 102.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Charlene Bailey of Lyons, CO, and Judy (Bud) Huney of Blue Grass, IA; sons, David Vaccaro of Johnstown, CO, and Jeffrey Vaccaro of San Marcos, TX; along with her 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles; son, Charles, Jr.; grandson, John; seven siblings; and daughter-in-law, Dawn.
Special thanks to Father Jacob Greiner of Our Lady of Victory Church, Davenport, IA, for caring for Bernadette’s spiritual needs and Elsie, Angie, Jenn and Krystal of Genesis Hospice for all of their help and kindness.
