Davenport, IA Services for Bernice M. Rogers, 95, of Davenport, will be 1:00 pm on Tuesday at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary, Davenport. Burial will follow at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Family will greet friends on Monday from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Mortuary. Cunnick-Collins Mortuary and Cremation Service assisting family with arrangements.Bernice passed away on Friday, January 13, 2012 at Genesis Medical Center – East Campus, Davenport.Bernice May Petersen was born on June 23, 1916 in Spencer, Iowa, the daughter of Pete and Myrtle (Bell) Petersen. She married Harvey Rogers on July 23, 1939. He preceded her in death in 1973.Mrs. Rogers has been a professional artist most of her life. As a child she would get into trouble for drawing on the walls. She has done many Bible paintings, including a life size portrait of Jesus. She has also done portraits of Lee Liberace, Elvis, Presley, and many others. For several years, she kept score at the Daytona 500 for NASCAR. In the late 1970’s she knew all of the drivers and their families, and some have her paintings. She has many other talents and is a very creative and inspirational person. Survivors include her daughter; Deanna (Dave) Bacon of Aledo, IL, sons; Harry (Fay) Rogers of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Roy (Jackie) Rogers, Richard (Rita) Rogers, all of Davenport, 10 grandchildren; Thomas, Rhonda, Michelle, Carolyn, Bradley, Austin, Debbie, Harvey, David, Gwen, and 11 great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harvey, two brothers and one sister.In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family.The family would like to thank the staff on the 4th floor at Genesis East for the care given to Bernice during her stay.Online condolences may be expressed to the family by visiting www.cunnick-collins.com
