Bertie Lou Allen

Funeral services for Bertie Lou Allen, 85, of Davenport will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary chapel, Davenport. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Private family interment will be at Moscow Cemetery, Moscow, IA at a later date. Mrs. Allen passed away on Friday, March 7, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Center, Davenport. Bertie Lou Smith was born on October 3, 1928 in Moscow, IA, the daughter of Louis and Lois (Mahaffey) Smith. On August 1, 1947, she married Robert H. Allen in Muscatine. He preceded her in death in 1995. Bertie worked 17 years for Von Maur in Davenport prior to her retirement in 1997. Gardening was one of her many talents, but she also enjoyed boating and camping with her family. She is survived by a Daughter: Diane (Donald) Klobes of Blue Grass, IA; a Son: Doug (Jinx) Allen of Davenport; three Granddaughters: Valerie (Ward) Simmons of DeWitt, IA, Tracy (Glen) Carson of Buffalo, IA, Molly (Matt) Brentlinger of Mesa, AZ; and four Great-grandchildren: Kaille and Keaton Simmons, Nick and Drew Carson. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister. Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.
