Betty Y. Francis

Funeral services for Betty Y. Francis, 91, of Davenport will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 3, 2012 at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary chapel in Davenport. The family will greet friends on Sunday from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at the mortuary. Interment will be at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Francis passed away on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf. Betty Yvonne Hufford was born on January 19, 1921 in Van Buren County, IA, the daughter of Clark and Bessie (Sprouse) Hufford. On March 22, 1941 she married Gerald H. Francis in Kirksville, MO. He preceded her in death in 1997. Betty worked in housekeeping at Genesis Medical Center- East Campus for 10 years prior to her retirement in 1979. First and foremost however, Betty was a devoted wife and mother. She was a member of the Christian Women’s Fellowship and Cedar Memorial Christian Church, Davenport. She is survived by her Daughter: Carol (George) Pajunen of Bettendorf; her two Sons: Carl (Stacy) Francis of Moline, IL, Carmi (Dottie) Francis of Davenport; three Sisters: Willa Mae Howell of Ottumwa, IA, Joanne (Sam) Hepker of Missouri, Kay Melvin of Ottumwa, IA; a Daughter-in-Law: Sue Francis of Davenport; 7 Grandchildren, 11 Great-grandchildren, and 5 Great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters. Memorials may be directed to Cedar Memorial Christian Church or to Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House.
