Beverly M. Golden, 86, formerly of Davenport, passed away on July 7, 2022 at her daughter’s home in Apex, NC . A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at Weerts Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery.
Beverly was born on December 6, 1935 in Davenport to Walter and Clover (Fletcher) Bucks. She graduated from LeClaire High School in 1954. Beverly was united in marriage to James R. Golden on June 20, 1956 in Argo, IA. He preceded her in death on October 9, 2003. Beverly worked as an administrator at the Davenport Country Club, retiring in 1984.
Beverly enjoyed spending time with her family and enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs through all their ups and downs. She loved to complete puzzles and make quilts in her spare time and would donate them to family and friends. She also loved to reminisce about her life on the farm and her ponies that she once had. She loved her husband, daughters, grandchildren, and her great granddaughter. In the last year of her life she moved to Apex, NC, with her daughter Susan (Tim), and near grandson Ryan (wife Olivia), and great granddaughter Lily. While there she was able to try lots of new restaurants, go to several Carolina Hurricanes games, which she LOVED, and one last trip to the beach, all of which she talked about frequently.
She is survived by her children, Cindy (Robert) Meyer of Bettendorf, Sandra Schlecht of Savanna, IL, and Susan (Timothy) DeGeeter of Apex, NC; 4 grandchildren, Michelle Meyer, Holly Meyer, Ryan (Olivia) DeGeeter and Jared James (Sara) DeGeeter; 1 great granddaughter, Lily; 1 sister, Priscilla Cornelison of Davenport; 1 brother, Jan Walter Bucks of Florida.
