A Visitation will be held on Friday, September 18th, 2020 from 5pm-7pm at Runge Mortuary in Davenport, IA. Funeral Services will be held the next day, Saturday, September 19th at 12:00noon in the same location. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Caleb’s name to The Center Skate Church in Davenport, IA. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com.
Caleb was born to Dennis and Joni Hawkins on Saturday, June 17th, 1989. He was an adventurous soul who loved skateboarding, music, and thrived in nature. His next adventure was always just around the bend, and his warm personality and sparkling eyes always enticed you to come along for it. If that wasn’t possible, he would tell you about it, whether it was a great adventure, or a huge flop. Caleb was a great story teller and an open book, never ashamed to tell you about his past even if it hadn’t gone the way he’d planned.
A people person who was always a good listener as well as talker, Caleb was a sponge for information. He loved to read, and was always trying to learn a new skill. If he wasn’t skateboarding, or going to a music festival, he was fishing with friends. If he wasn’t doing that, he was trying his hand at drawing or painting, cooking up a new dish, or possibly just eating one! Caleb was above all creative and that came out in many ways as he experimented with ideas inspired by the people around him.
Family was an important part of Caleb’s life. Notes were often left around the house for his parents to find. His mother was one of his best friends and partners in crime, and he visited his brothers often and spoke about them, and his Pops, frequently.
Friends were important too, and Caleb rarely met a stranger. He made friends everywhere he went, with adults, children, and animals. He had a big heart for the homeless and those struggling with addictions. It seemed like anyone could become his new best friend in the course of a single conversation. Caleb’s friends and family will forever cherish their memories with him.
He is survived by his mother and father, Joni and Dennis Hawkins, his eight siblings, his numerous nieces and nephews, and all those fortunate enough to have known him and considered him a friend.
