Carl Albert Border passed away on April 29, 2022, after a prolonged illness.
Carl was born in Port Byron, Illinois to Samuel and Leila (Priest) Border, and was the youngest of seven children. He served in the U.S. Navy before completing an apprenticeship as a Tool & Die Maker. He married Lillian Murphy in 1961 and they had two children. They moved to Goose Creek, South Carolina in 1985, where he enjoyed his retirement and owned a fishing reel repair business.
Carl cared deeply for his family and friends and was always there to lend a hand when needed. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, a scout leader, and a member of the Moose Lodge. He was a volunteer and supporter of Wild Life Action, an organization that supports sustainable hunting and fishing, and firearms safety. Carl was preceded in death by both parents. He will be greatly missed by his daughters, Nancy Dynes and Karen Schmidberger, eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 20th from 10-11 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Bettendorf, Iowa. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. following the visitation. Military Rites and Rite of Committal will take place on Saturday, May 21st at 10 a.m. at Davenport Memorial Cemetery.
