A Celebration of Life will be held at 12:00pm on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at the First Baptist Church in Bettendorf. Memorials may be made in Carmen’s name to the First Baptist Church in Bettendorf. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com.
Carmen was born August 5, 1932 in Iowa City, Iowa to Euwell and Alice (Meyer) Carpenter. He married the love of his life, Judith May, on August 29, 1959 in Davenport, Iowa.
Carmen retired from the Rock Island Arsenal in 1988 as an engineer. He was a basketball star at Central High School taking State Championships three years in a row, 1950-1952. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan, loved to bowl, enjoyed golf, played softball and basketball. He loved spending time with family and friends most of all.
Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Chris Carpenter and Steven Carpenter; grandchildren, Kerri Carpenter and Alex Carpenter; great-grandchild Kayden; sisters, Dolores Wilson, Joyce Cox, Marilyn Hagen, and Lana Mirr.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Judith Carpenter and his son, Craig Carpenter.
