Carol Anne Jacobs, 86, passed away on July 17, 2023 at Monmouth Nursing Home. A funeral service will take place 2 p.m. Friday, July 21, 2023 at Weerts Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m., concluding at time of services. Carol will be laid to rest at Muscatine Memorial Park. Carol (Sedwick) Jacobs was born the eldest of four children on January 18, 1937 to parents Helen and Elmer Sedwick in Warren County, IL. She graduated from Monmouth High School in 1955 and went on to obtain her associates degree from AIC. She worked as a secretary at Bettendorf Schools for over 18 years. On July 20, 1958 she married William Jacobs in Muscatine, Iowa. They would go on to have two children and spend 34 years together before William passed in 1992.
Carol had a special place in her heart for veterans; she was involved heavily with VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the American Legion. She was also a woman of faith, and for many years she served breakfast each Thursday at First United Presbyterian Church.
In her spare time, Carol loved to play card games such as euchre and bunco. She also enjoyed cross stitch and crochet. Above all, she most enjoyed spending time with her family. Although she is fiercely missed, we hope she is reunited with her beloved children and husband.
Survivors include her sisters, Elaine (Melvin) Rash, Phyllis Wilson; brother, Dan (Kay) Sedwick; son-in-law, Robert Chitwood; grandchildren, Ian Jacobs, Kylie (James) Clenden, Torie Bolender, Michael Chitwood, Steven Chitwood, Tara Chitwood; many beloved great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Jacobs, her parents, and her children, Kendall Jacobs and Jennifer Chitwood.
