Carolyn was born on February 14, 1942 in Sterling, Illinois to Charles and Leola Hains. She graduated from Sterling High School in 1960. She met the love of her life, Travis Watters, on a blind date and they married exactly one year later on May 11, 1963. Carolyn created a wonderful and happy home for her family, raising 3 children. She worked for AAA, then after her children started school, worked for Tim Downing Architects and at the Rock Island Arsenal. Carolyn volunteered for the local chapter of Pilot International while resuming her work life, and was a 50-year member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. She & Travis traveled the world, and they loved to spend winters in Texas. She loved spoiling her grandchildren, loved to bake and garden, and loved her family and friends most of all.
Those left to honor her memory are her husband of 61 years Travis; children Steve (Sonja) Watters, Tracy (Mike) Henry, and Jamie (Chrissy) Watters; grandchildren Ryan Watters, Mark Watters, Kara Henry, Jack Henry, Zenie Watters, and Armstrong Watters; sisters Ruth Dietz and Jeanne Williamson; and many cherished nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Leola, brother Richard Hains, brothers-in-law DuWayne Dietz and Wayne Williamson, and sister-in-law Joyce Hains.
The family is extremely grateful for the wonderful care provided to Carolyn and the family by the kind staff and members at The Fountains, Genesis Hospital, Clarissa Cook Hospice House and Redeemer Lutheran Church.
