

Funeral Services will be Thursday, February 19th, 2026, at 10 a.m. at The Runge Mortuary. Burial will follow at the National Cemetery in Rock Island, IL as she will be laid to rest with her husband.
Visitation will be one hour prior to service on Thursday. Memorials can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Online condolences can be made at www.rungemortuary.com
Charlene was born on December 01, 1935, in Davenport, Iowa to Charles and Dorothy (Brasmer)Shaw. She was united in marriage to Floyd (“Archie”) William Kerwin on July 06, 1957, in Davenport, Iowa.
In her younger years, Charlene was a beautician. Following her marriage to Floyd, she was a devoted stay at home mother to her two daughters. As her children grew older, she continued her love for children by working in the Davenport School System in Food Services. She retired in 1993. Following her retirement, she helped babysit her 2 grandchildren who lived in Davenport.
Her hobbies included spending time with her grandchildren, as well as exercising, reading, needlepoint, crochet, and knitting.
Survivors include her two daughters Bonnie (Gary) Sloat of Davenport, Iowa and Rebecca (James) Howe of Atlanta, Georgia; 4 grandchildren Mickey & Meredith Sloat, Addison (Jonathan) Wood, and Parker Howe, 1 niece Kris (Dave) Voss and 3 nephews Rick (Lori) Shaw and Kent (Jill) & Kevin Stoefen.
Charlene was preceded in his death by her parents, her husband, her brother Bill, sister Marilyn, and her nephew Mike Shaw.
