Charles W. “Chuck” Johnson, Jr., 76, of Davenport, passed away Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Genesis East Medical Center. Private funeral services will be held. A public visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 pm at The Runge Mortuary. Burial will be in Oakdale Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to King’s Harvest Animal Rescue. Online condolences may be left at www.rungemortuary.com. Chuck was born July 14, 1939 in Ottumwa, Iowa, the son of Charles Sr. and Betty (Long) Johnson. He was united in marriage to Roberta Carstensen on April 1, 1961 in Davenport; she preceded him in death on January 2, 2011. He had worked for Oscar Maryer and more recently had worked as a fireman for the City of Davenport and the Arsenal where he retired as a millwright. Chuck enjoyed fishing, NASCAR, visiting relatives in Ottumwa and feeding the “critters.” He also enjoyed watching the Cubs, Cardinals and Iowa Hawkeyes. Those left to honor his memory include his children, Drake Johnson and Kyle (Eugene) Johnson, all of Davenport; grandchildren: Trace and Dalton Johnson and a half-sister, Sally, Ark. His parents and several brothers and sisters preceded him in death.
