Cindy L. Walton, 64, of Davenport passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, after a near 8 year battle with breast cancer. Per her wishes, cremation and a private family gathering will take place Saturday June 7, 2025.
Cindy was born on September 4, 1960, in Davenport, IA. She was the daughter of Darrell D. Keeney. She graduated from Davenport West High School in 1978. Cindy was united in marriage to James L. Walton on March 11, 1978 and together they had four children. They later divorced, but remained close friends.
In her early years of marriage, Cindy was a beloved homemaker, wife, and mother. She later owned and operated her own small business, Cindy’s Courier Service, for over 20 years. Although proud of her career, Cindy always said her favorite job in life was being a mother and grandmother. She was dedicated to her children and grandchildren; always keeping tabs on their whereabouts and was actively involved in all their activities. Besides spending time with her family, Cindy’s main hobbies included shopping for deals, DIY projects, and watching Iowa Hawkeyes Basketball. She had a love for hummingbirds, plants, windmills, and purses. She also had a huge heart for animals- never saying no to any animal her kids brought home and always checking local shelters for ones she wished she could rescue.
Survivors include her four children, Darrell Walton, Kenny Walton, Brittany (Miles) Haberkorn, and Kaylee (Jonathan) Scheidhauer; 6 grandchildren with another on the way; aunts and uncle, Shirley and Verlyn Keeney, Carmella Moffit, Sandy Johnson, close cousin Dan Keeney, and best friend Kelly Stevenson.
She was preceded in death by her father Darrell D. Keeney and grandparents Dorothy and Delbert Keeney.
The family would also like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Mark Karwal and his amazing nurse, Julie, from The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Their high level of care and compassion gave us 8 extra years with Mom that we will treasure forever.
Memorials may be made to the family. Online condolences may be expressed at www.weertsfh.
