

Clara Mae Haack, 95, of Davenport Iowa passed away Friday, April 18, 2025 at the Clarissa C Cook Hospice House. Per her request, cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service to honor her memory will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at 11am at St. John's United Methodist Church; visitation will begin at 10am and go until time of service. A private family burial will be at the Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials in Clara’s name may be made to St. John's United Methodist Church or CASI.
Clara was born on February 23, 1930 at the family farm in Greene County Iowa to William and Florence Hoyt. Following high school, Clara earned her teaching certificate and taught 4th grade. She married John Haack on June 7, 1953 in Scranton Iowa; he passed away in 1996. Clara was an active member at St. John United Methodist Church, involved in numerous Bible Studies and prayer groups. She was involved with D.A.R.S.P.A., her book club “Club of ‘89”, a Dominos group, P.E.O. Chapter IC, CASI, the Varsity Dance Club, and traveling, especially to Hawaii. Clara loved her family and delighted in her grandchildren.
Those left to honor her memory are her children Jackie Haack, Joel (Joyce) Haack, and Jay (Lori) Haack; grandchildren Allison, Evan (Ann), Chelsey (Tim), Alex (Katie), and Tony; great-grandchildren Eden and Silas; her sister Gaye (Larry) Barr; her brothers Dale (Linda) Hoyt and Neal (Caroline) Hoyt; sister-in-law Beverly Hoyt; brother-in-law Ron Carroll; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband John; her parents William and Florence; and siblings Arlene Carroll, Mildred Said, Glen Hoyt, and Ralph Hoyt.
