He was born in Dixon IA on June 28, 1930 to John FW Jr and Irene (Steinbeck) Danielsen. After High School, Cliff worked at JI Case while building garages with 2 friends, until drafted where he served in the 82nd airborne from March 1951 to March 1953. During his time in the military, he married his next door sweet heart, Mardelle Meier, on July 14, 1951. After his service, Cliff returned to JI Case. Cliff was accepted to the electrical apprenticeship at Alcoa. After a layoff, he worked at Iowa Illinois Gas, until called back and finished his apprenticeship as a pyrometric electrician. He retired on July 1, 1992 after more than 25 years of service.
During this time, Cliff raised two children with his wife in rural Blue Grass. He was fiercely devoted to his family and friends, helping in any way he could. He served as a union steward for 13 years, was a council member and volunteer at Calvary Lutheran church in Buffalo IA. The acreage in rural Blue Grass allowed for many visitors to enjoy a visit “in the country”.
In retirement with a Motorhome, he enjoyed wintering in Arizona with his wife and visiting their grandchildren. With an ongoing 2 year illness of Mardelle, Cliff moved into Summit Ridge to better care for her, but 2 months later she passed into eternity in October 2000. After her passing, Cliff enjoyed playing cards, casino trips both solo and with groups from the condo, visits with his grandchildren, family, retiree events and worshiping at Calvary Lutheran where he served.
